The pride and glory of a foundry

The pride and glory of a foundry

Every morning at 6:30, no matter it is windy or rainy, a skinny master will always appear on time at the first line of melting and casting of Northeast Light Alloy Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Dongqing), constantly running around the seven production lines. He held a palm-sized notebook in his hand, and while observing the situation at the production site, he quickly recorded in the notebook. At this time, there is still an hour and a half before the shift time.

He is Jia Chuncheng, a Dongqing foundry and a super technician.

In winter and summer, there is never the word “easy” next to the casting machine. In summer, a factory with an average temperature of 42 degrees Celsius sweats so much that the soaked clothes can “stand” on the ground after drying; It’s cold behind”, the temperature difference between inside and outside the factory is more than 60 degrees Celsius, and it is even more difficult to adapt to the cold and the heat. It is in such a position that Jia Chuncheng has been working for 26 years.

From the factory to the fixed post: it only took two months

Jia Chuncheng, born in Pingfang District, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province in 1977, is the third generation of Dongqing in his family. My grandfather was an employee of Dongqing’s predecessor 101 Factory, and my father was a die-forger of Dongqing.

On August 26, 1996, 19-year-old Jia Chuncheng started working after graduation. According to the regulations of the year, all technical school graduates have to undertake a one-year apprenticeship before they can be appointed. But only 2 months later, Jia Chuncheng ended his apprenticeship ahead of schedule and started to work with diligence and hard work.

In 1998, when the forging ring of a certain product was produced, 21-year-old Jia Chuncheng followed his master, Lv Yanze, the first National May 1st Labor Medal winner in the factory, to contact the research and development of national-level projects for the first time. Among the 6-person research team, Jia Chuncheng is the youngest.

For 4 and a half days, 6 people were divided into 2 classes and kept experimenting. At that time, the round bar with the largest diameter of 720 mm was cast in the same industry in China. After many failures, Jia Chuncheng observed the melt on the machine and put forward some different ideas. At first, the teachers did not agree. Jia Chuncheng persuaded the masters to give it a try. Unexpectedly, after trying it, the effect was obvious. The old masters praised Jia Chuncheng one after another: “Young man, he is better than our generation of casters!”

It was the success of this trial casting that ensured that the key projects were carried out as scheduled. This experience also made the young Jia Chuncheng begin to explore new directions on the road of melting and casting.

Fail to Success: Tried Hundreds of Times

In Jia Chuncheng’s resume, some major projects shine, and he has participated in the research and development, trial production and production of a series of major engineering materials throughout the process, breaking the foreign monopoly of materials.

It is difficult to find ready-made reference materials for the majors that Jia Chuncheng has studied, and foreign experts who master relevant technologies will not share them. what to do? Only on your own.

In 2011, Jia Chuncheng participated in a national key project. At that time, my country still lacked the independent production capacity of the alloys required for the project, and the core technologies were all in the hands of foreigners. The length of super alloy products occasionally reaches 1.8 meters, which is still a long way from the stable production of 3.5 meters long alloy products.

After hundreds of times of exploration and improvement, Jia Chuncheng and his team cast an ingot with a length of 3.5 meters, which can be more than 4 meters long after minor adjustments. The success of this research and development represents a major breakthrough in domestic high-precision, high-strength and high-toughness aluminum alloy materials.

Jia Chuncheng recalled: “What others can do, we can do it too!”

Individual to Team: Strengthening the Talent Pool

In 2016, the casting factory established a model worker innovation studio named after Jia Chuncheng. The studio had just been established, and Jia Chuncheng applied for it to go to the newly developed “Northern Line” construction area.

At that time, Jia Chuncheng in the “Southern Line” construction area was already well-known. Based on his work experience, he summed up a number of industry norms and standards such as the “7 Series Aluminum Alloy Casting Quality Operation Method” and “The Standardized Operation Specification for Casting Process”.

Jia Chuncheng is very clear that in the familiar old production line, due to the limited tonnage of the furnace, it can no longer meet the country’s demand for large plates. “When I go to the new work area, my experience may be invalid, and my reputation may be damaged, but this is not important.” Jia Chuncheng said frankly that in the face of national needs, personal fame and fortune are not important. “I want to transplant the technology I have mastered to the new line, and it is my responsibility to make the production capacity meet the demand.”

In order to fulfill his mission, Jia Chuncheng imparted his accumulated experience to young people without reservation. Jia Chuncheng said: “To break the technological monopoly, we cannot rely on one person or a generation. We must have a stable and strong team. Serving the country is our greatest glory.”
