Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: Strictly implement the production capacity replacement policy

On July 29, the 4th meeting of the 6th General Assembly of China Iron and Steel Association was held in Beijing. The meeting made an in-depth analysis of the impact of the international and domestic situation on my country’s steel industry this year, summarized the work of the industry and the association in the first half of the year, and carefully judged the industry in the second half of the year. Facing the situation and put forward the key tasks of the industry. Relevant responsible comrades from the Raw Materials Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology attended the meeting.

The “14th Five-Year Plan” is an accelerated evolution period for my country’s iron and steel industry to transform from “scale benefits” to “quality benefits”, and it is in a critical period of historic leap from big to strong. The relevant responsible comrades of the Raw Materials Industry Department said that in the face of the current development situation of the steel industry, the entire industry must strengthen confidence, not forget the original intention, maintain perseverance, and focus on three aspects of work: First, focus on promoting the steady growth of the steel industry. In accordance with the general requirements of the Party Central Committee that “the epidemic must be prevented, the economy must be stabilized, and development must be safe”, we should put stable growth in the first place and maintain the stable operation of the iron and steel industry. The second is to focus on the development of quality and efficiency. Effectively change the concept of development, promote the transformation of enterprises from scale expansion to quality and efficiency, strengthen the building of innovation capabilities, accelerate the transformation of intelligent, green, and low-carbon technologies, and improve the quality of industry development. The third is to strictly implement the production capacity replacement policy. The industry and enterprises should consciously be the maintainers of the industry order, strictly prohibit new production capacity, and consolidate the results of reducing production capacity.
