According to legend, Ou Yezi, a master swordsmith in the Spring and Autumn Period, spent three years making swords in Zhanlu Mountain, Songxi, Fujian Province, and perfected the Zhanlu Sword. However, the sword changed hands many times and was lost. In 1984, Songxi established the Zhanlu Sword Factory and successfully resumed the production of swords.
Ye Xiangchun was born in Songxi, Fujian Province in 1971. He has been obsessed with swords, guns and sticks since he was a child. After graduating from junior high school, Ye Xiangchun began his “sword life” under the tutelage of master swordsmith Yang Zongwen. Currently, Ye Xiangchun is the Nanping municipal intangible inheritor of Zhanlu sword casting skills.
In recent years, Ye Xiangchun has frequently appeared in many exhibitions at home and abroad with his products. In his opinion, the Zhanlu sword casting technique is not only a cultural symbol of Songxi, but also an excellent Chinese cultural treasure. More people should know and feel the charm of intangible cultural heritage techniques.
