In recent days, at the 8500DWT batch grocery ship project site located in Qinzhou Port Economic Development Zone, Qinzhou City, the roar of machinery, the rolling sound of the gantry crane, and the sound of workers' horns have been intertwined into a passionate music.

This project is currently the largest export shipbuilding project in Guangxi. It was undertaken by China Shipbuilding Group Guangxi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and adopts an order-based contract of “4 ship confirmation + 2 ships in two-way selection + 2 ship intentions”. The order has been scheduled until 2027, and the products are mainly sold to the European market. At present, the first ship has been successfully launched for outfitting and is expected to be delivered to customers by the end of May; ships 2# and 3# have also entered the ship platform for closing. The 8500DWT grocery ship is 119.9 meters long, 17 meters wide, 9.3 meters deep, with a draft of between 6.5 meters and 7 meters. It has a designed speed of 13.2 knots and a maximum load tonnage of 8,500 tons. It has been certified by the Italian Classification Society.

According to the staff, the main engine and generator of this type of grocery ship adopt SCR (selective catalytic reduction) technology, and the generated gases are non-toxic and pollution-free. Compared with ships of the same tonnage grade and type, their fuel consumption is saved by about 40%, nitrogen oxide emissions are reduced by about 80%, and carbon dioxide emissions are also significantly reduced. At the same time, the propulsion device uses a pitch-adjustable paddle, which has better operability and maneuverability, greatly improving battery life.

In order to speed up the construction progress, China Shipbuilding Guangxi Company shortened the shipbuilding cycle to about 12 months by setting up new pre-installation and assembly sites, optimizing process forwarding, modular assembly and other methods. At the same time, we strictly control the quality and achieve a pass rate of one-time external inspection of more than 98%, which has received unanimous praise from ship owners and ship inspections.
