Today we talk about the Bao’an Bureau of Yongzheng Tongbao. Before Yongzheng, there was no Bao’an Bureau during the Shunzhi and Kangxi Reigns. The founding site of Yongzheng Tongbao Bao’an Bureau, which is now Nanjing, in Jiangsu, was actually It belongs to Anhui Province, and now it also has Anhui Province, but Anhui at that time was different from the present. The Mint Bureau was established in the first year of Yongzheng. At that time, because copper resources were relatively scarce, and there were more losses when making money, it was never able to. It was not until the ninth year of Yongzheng that the Baoan Bureau began to cast Yongzheng Tongbao.

It was cast in the twelfth year of Yongzheng, that is, the casting stopped after about three years. However, the casting process of Baoan Bureau is better, and the shape of the money is relatively large. Under normal circumstances, the diameter of Baoan Bureau will be greater than 28 mm, so Although the Baoan Bureau had a relatively large amount of casting, it was also loved by Tibetan friends in Yongzheng because of its better casting process and larger size. Why was there no Baoan Bureau between the Shunzhi and Kangxi reigns?

In fact, there are two coin-making bureaus in Jiangsu. The first one is the Jiangning Bureau, the former Baoning Bureau and the Baoan Bureau, and the other is the Suzhou Bureau. Everyone should know that the casting is treasure. For the coins of the Su Bureau, the Jiangning Bureau in Jiangnan was opened in the 5th year of Shunzhi. Jiangning Prefecture was actually a minting center in the Ming Dynasty. Everyone knows that the Ming Dynasty moved its capital from Nanjing to Beijing during the Yongle period.

In the past, Nanjing was a major distribution center. Both the economy and the culture were the center of development, so Nanjing was an economic center during the Ming Dynasty. It also minted a lot of coins, but it still remained in the Qing Dynasty. There are many coin furnaces. At that time, the maximum number reached 300 furnaces. Think about it. In fact, the average coin bureau has dozens of furnaces to 100 furnaces. It is already very large, while the Jiangning government bureau has reached 300 furnaces. Therefore, the amount of coins minted is very large. It is not difficult to understand that the Yongzheng Baoan Bureau has only minted three years, but the amount of minted coins is very large.

When the Jiangning Bureau was in Shunzhi and Kangxi, its main inscription was Ning or Ning Yili. It was only after the establishment of the Jiangning Bureau in the 9th year of Yongzheng that Baoan Bureau’s money was made, and in the 12th year of Yongzheng. After it stopped, the Jiangning government bureau stopped until the thirteenth year of Guangxu began to make money again. At that time, the coins minted were mainly machine-made money, so the Baoan bureau only had money during the Yongzheng period. It is the characteristic of Baoan Bureau’s coinage.
