Erzhong Equipment, the governing unit of China Foundry Association, took the lead in undertaking the project of “800-1000MW super-large hydropower unit core castings and application demonstration of casting production technology”, which passed the acceptance of Sichuan Provincial Department of Science and Technology. The expert group believes that the project has realized the independent research and development of the core steel castings of large-scale hydropower units, and has broad application prospects.

It is understood that the research object of this project is large-scale steel castings of giant hydraulic turbine units with a single capacity of 800-1000MW. Through the combination of production, education and research, the dual equipment has broken through a series of key manufacturing technologies such as materials, molding, and dimensions, meeting the construction needs of world super hydropower projects such as Baihetan and Wudongde.
A number of technologies formed in the lower ring project of the Wudongde hydropower unit under processing have been promoted and applied to the production and manufacture of key hydraulic turbine bearing steel castings of many well-known OEMs at home and abroad. The product quality is excellent, and the overall technical performance indicators have reached the international advanced level.
