2021 China Foundry Industry Data Release

On July 26, 2022, at the 7th National Foundry Industry Innovation and Development Forum, the 2021 China Foundry Industry Data was officially released. Wang Dongsheng, executive vice president and secretary general of China Foundry Association, released the data and explained it in detail.

Total output of castings

In 2021, the total output of castings in China will reach 54.05 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.0% and an average growth of 5.3% in the two years. The foundry industry has achieved relatively stable development.

Demand for castings in downstream industries

In 2021, the annual output of downstream industries: 15.4 million tons of automobile castings; 5.55 million tons of internal combustion engine and agricultural machinery castings; 5.2 million tons of construction machinery castings; 5 million tons of mining and metallurgical machinery castings; 8.85 million tons of cast pipes and pipe fittings; 2.15 million tons of rail transit castings; 2.35 million tons of power generation equipment and power castings; 350,000 tons of ship castings; 6.6 million tons of other castings.

The proportion of casting demand in downstream industries

The automobile industry is the largest user of castings. In 2021, the proportion of automobile castings will be 28.5%. Due to the pulling effect of exports, the output of automobile castings will increase by 2.7% year-on-year; the demand for castings in machine tools, general machinery and emerging industries such as robots will increase.

Casting output by material

The output of gray iron castings was 22.55 million tons; the output of ductile iron castings was 15.95 million tons; the output of malleable iron castings was 600,000 tons; the output of steel castings was 6.6 million tons; the output of aluminum (magnesium) alloy castings was 7.2 million tons; the output of copper alloy castings was 900,000 tons; The output of other castings is 250,000 tons.
