On July 28, the 2022 China Manufacturing Design Conference Yuelai International Design Forum opened at the Chongqing Yuelai International Conference Center located in the Yuelai International Convention and Exhibition City, helping Chongqing to become a “design capital”.
More than 200 industry experts and guests from Italy, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan and other countries and international design organizations and institutions gathered online and offline.

According to data from the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, by the end of 2021, Chongqing has built 10 national-level industrial design centers and 101 municipal-level industrial design centers, with more than 7,000 design-related employees and more than 3,100 industrialization projects, achieving annual sales. The income exceeds 200 billion yuan, and the industrial design service income exceeds 230 million yuan. In addition, 22 national industrial design centers and 1 national industrial design research institute set up branches in Chongqing, and cultivated 25 design-leading demonstration enterprises and 153 design-driven enterprises.
Chongqing is the only one of the 4 national industrial design demonstration cities in the western part of the country. It has initially formed a unique industrial design innovation development model with talent evaluation as the core, public services as the support, and the whole chain ecology as the guide.
Based on the construction of a national industrial design demonstration city, Chongqing will focus on the implementation of the “five major actions”, including the expansion of market entities, the introduction and cultivation of professional talents, the building of brand activities, the cultivation of carrier platforms, and the construction of design ecology. Design empowers the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.
At the opening ceremony, the award ceremony of the 2021 “Zhibo Cup” China (Chongqing) Industrial Design Competition was held, and awards were given to the winners of the Supreme Award, Gold Award, Silver Award, Bronze Award and Excellence Award. The award-winning works of the competition will inject impetus into the development of the city’s industrial design.
It is understood that the 2021 “Zhibo Cup” China (Chongqing) Industrial Design Competition has collected a total of 4,089 works from four categories, including equipment manufacturing, better life, industrial services, and conceptual design. After expert review, the Supreme Award was finally selected. 1 prize, 5 gold prizes, 14 silver prizes, 25 bronze prizes, and 362 excellence prizes.
In addition, the signing ceremony of investment promotion cooperation projects was also held at the opening ceremony. Industry organizations such as World Green Design Organization, China Industrial Design Association, Leo Planning and Design Consulting Co., Ltd., Beijing Taihuo Red Bird Technology Co., Ltd., Fano Group Holdings Co., Ltd., Associations and enterprises signed 19 projects.
The signing of these projects has promoted the coordinated development of Chongqing’s design industry to a certain extent, promoted the integrated development of industrial design and manufacturing, and modern service industries, and helped Chongqing create a “design capital”.
The conference also held the “National Industrial Design Center”, “World Green Design Park”, “Automotive Design Capital” and other licensing activities and the launching ceremony of the “World Design Industrial Park”.
