Founded on November 14, 1956, the Anhui Provincial Museum is a provincial comprehensive museum integrating nature, history, social education. When you walk into the Anhui Provincial Museum, you have to look at the treasure of the town hall-Chu Dading.

The Chu Ding, also known as the “Ding Ke Ding”, has a height of 113 cm, a diameter of 93 cm, and a weight of nearly 400 kg. It was unearthed in 1933 from the Tomb of King Chu You, Shou County, Huainan City, Anhui Province. It was cast in the middle of Chu State, representing the most advanced bronze casting process in my country at that time, and was a national first-class protected cultural relic.

It has a round mouth and square lips, a puffed belly and a round bottom, and three feet. Both ears are attached to the side of the neck, and the upper part of the ear is slightly abducted. The belly of the tripod is decorated with raised hoops, the ears and the outer wall of the neck are decorated with diamond-shaped geometric patterns, and the base of the feet is decorated with embossed swirls. Its mouth is engraved with a 12-character inscription, with the word “zhuke” at the beginning, hence the name “zhuke dading”. Both the forefoot heel and the outer wall of the left abdomen are engraved with the word “Anbang”, which shows its status as an important weapon of Anbang.

Shou County, also known as Shouzhou and Shouchun, is the hometown of Chu culture and the ancient battlefield of the Battle of Feishui, known as the “underground museum”. At the end of the Warring States Period, it was the capital of Chu for nineteen years. The four kings of the calendar were the last capital of Chu. In 223 BC, the Qin army invaded the capital of Chu Shouchun (now Shouxian County, Anhui Province), the king of Chu was captured, and the Kingdom of Chu was destroyed. The Chu Dading is the most representative and influential cultural relic in the relics of Chu culture.
